Content : Since 2008, Gabriel Jones' photographic practice has borrowed from the codes of voyeurism, insofar as he never interacts directly with his subjects, who are always unaware that they are being observed.
The images in the Splashes series, characteristic of this approach, highlight the notion of background. During parties, the photographer invites friends to pretend to pose for him in order to better steal situations taking place behind these fake models. The photographs taken using the first camera phones are largely cropped to reveal only the situations and compositions that originally interested the artist. This manipulation generates a very pixelated image, which the artist sometimes allows himself to retouch to further accentuate the strangeness of the scenes he collects.
