This first-person account by Australian Sally Olds tells the anonymous story of these small, hasty investors who cling to crypto to better survive precariousness or find an ideology in which to... invest. Far from the image of the tech bro—a white, straight, geeky man in his early thirties with a pot belly—Sally Olds tells us how crypto has also sucked the life out of her queer, arty friends, fans of polyamory and one-night stands, and helps us understand how the success of cryptocurrencies, far from being limited to a monolithic ideology, has fueled a diversity of contradictory needs and desires.

Sally Olds is a Queensland writer living in Naarm/Melbourne. Her work has been published by the Sydney Review of Books , a Magazine , AQNB , and the Institute of Modern Art. Her first book, People who Lunch: Essays on Work, Leisure, and Loose Living , was published in 2022 and shortlisted for the Victorian Premier's Literary Awards. Her latest project is a co-authored/co-edited newsletter, The Paris End .
